Military Experience
United States Marine Corps
Military Police
Enlisting in the United States Marine Corps in 1985 and making my way to Parris Island in February of 1996 where I attended Marine Corps boot camp, I experienced one of the greatest challenges of my life. I proudly graduated from Marine Corps boot camp in May 1986 and then traveled to Lackland Air Force Base, Marine Corps Detachment for the Military Police Academy, completing the requirements of the program in September. I received my orders to report to Marine Corps Air Station, Beaufort, South Carolina where I served as a military police officer for the remainder of my enlistment.
Proud Moment: I was presented with the Molly Marine Award at the Marine Corps boot camp graduation ceremony. This award is presented by the Woman Marines Association to the one recruit of each platoon, selected by her fellow platoon members, for "best exemplifying Esprit de Corps by her attitude, decorum, personality, and day-to-day relationship with her platoon members" (1986).
